England head coach Eddie Jones has shown up at the Six Nations media launch on Wednesday sporting a brand new and very nasty looking facial injury.
Arriving at the Hurlingham Club in Fulham, Jones presented himself to the media with a badly bruised and bloodshot left eye accompanied by a considerable bandage on his upper left cheek.
Obviously the first thing the media wondered was just what happened to the Australian in the days since he announced his squad for the forthcoming championship.
According to Jones, and as reported by Wales Online, he received a knock while overseeing training at the squad’s warm weather camp in Vilamoura, Portugal.
“We’ve had a bit of fun in the Algarve, we’ve had a really good training camp.
“It’s just one of those things. I slipped over and got hit, nothing too drastic.”
Take a look.
The battered and bruised boss appears to have taken it all in his stride, despite having to join the other nations’ coaches and captains for the obligatory photo shoot that precedes the northern hemisphere’s marquee rugby tournament.
While we don’t know exactly what happened to cause such an injury, you might expect that whomever was responsible is currently receiving something of a ribbing from his colleagues and hoping that Jones isn’t one to hold a grudge.
