England Centre Kyle Eastmond To Leave Bath

England centre Kyle Eastmond is set to depart Bath Rugby and sign with Sale Sharks, according to reports.

The Bath Chronicle is claiming that Eastmond has left the club after those in charge at the cash-laden Premiership outfit decided the former rugby league player was not worth the salary they offered him back in December.

The six cap inside centre has only played ten games this season due to struggles with injuries but seems determined to make a name for himself as an established international player, having turned down opportunities to return to rugby league.

Eastmond only signed a two year extension with the club back in January after rejecting offers to return to the sport he originally came from with Warrington Wolves (via The Daily Mail).

The Chronicle claims that the extension deal meant Eastmond would have been one of the highest earners at the club that had a difficult last season that saw head coach Mike Ford sacked at its conclusion.

With other senior inside centre Ollie Devoto having signed for Exeter Chiefs for the coming season, it means Bath are now seriously short of players to partner England regular Jonathan Joseph in the centres.

A move to Sale Sharks would make some sense for Eastmond who is originally from Oldham and still has close ties with his home town.
