Eddie Jones Unveils 33-Man England Training Squad Ahead Of Six Nations

England Training Session

Eddie Jones has included four uncapped players in his 33-man training squad who will attend a two-day camp in Brighton ahead of the Six Nations.

Bath’s Nathan Catt, Sale Sharks’ Josh Beaumont, Mike Williams of the Leicester Tigers and Saracens fly-half Alex Lozowski have all been included in a squad that also contains the returning James Haskell, Maro Itoje, Manu Tuilagi, Jack Nowell and Anthony Watson.

The squad will assemble for camp on the January 2, allowing Jones to “do some of the organisational work we need to do for the Six Nations”.

Speaking at the unveiling of his squad, the England coach laid out the challenge facing England in the upcoming Six Nations, starting with their opening fixture against France.

We have France first-up who are one of the most improved sides in Europe. They should have beaten Australia and could have beaten the All Blacks in November, so they’ll come into the Six Nations with a lot of confidence.

We’ve got to make sure that we use this training camp to get an understanding of how we’re going to beat France. We want to see a good attitude from the players and, as always, we’re looking for players who are desperate to play for England.

Indeed, Jones hinted at the possibility of adopting a more expansive approach in this season’s Championship, building on his side’s willingness to attack off first phase during the Autumn series.

The thing the struck me about last year’s Six Nations is that sides were scared to lose and we want to make sure in this Six Nations, right from the word go, that we’re daring and we have the courage to play our game.
