England have potentially been hit with yet more injury news.
England might be without their first choice second row combination ahead of their autumn series against South Africa, Australia, Argentina and Fiji, after Maro Itoje was forced off the field during Saracens’ 44-26 win over the Scarlets.
The lock was forced off the field after suffering a hand injury in a ruck during the 46th minute. Itoje was immediately withdrawn and is due to have an x-ray to determine the extent of the damage.
The news could not come at a worse time for Eddie Jones, after George Kruis was ruled out of the November series with an ankle injury earlier this week.
Itoje could therefore join James Haskell, Jack Clifford, Mike Williams, Sam Jones, Manu Tuilagi, Anthony Watson and Jack Nowell on the sideline next month.
Although England have an enviable amount of depth at their disposal, Eddie Jones has yet to significantly alter his starting XV. This will in turn give hope to South Africa, who currently find themselves in disarray.
