Eben Etzebeth had been linked with a move to Saracens.
Earlier this month Saracens sent their fans into a tizzy when it was reported that the European Champions were in talks to sign Eben Etzebeth on a short term deal.
However, no sooner than Sarries Supporters begun drooling over the prospect of watching their side field Maro Itoje alongside Etzebeth in the second row, reports emerged distancing the Springbok lock with a move to Allianz Park.
Nevertheless, the 53 times capped South African international could still feature in the Premiership this season, after The Rugby Paper this morning reported that Bristol have offered Etzebeth a short term contract worth a massive £40,000 per game.
The deal would see the 6′ 8″ lock line out for Bristol for six games following South Africa’s European tour, possibly making his debut against Gloucester on 3 December.
As unlikely as it may sound, not only does The Rugby Paper believe the deal is close to being complete, but Bristol are also in talks with other star players in a bid to avoid being relegated at the end of the season.
