Doubts Continue To Surround The Fitness Of Key Wales Duo Ahead Of England Clash

rob howley

After Rob Howley named both Dan Biggar and George North in the Wales starting XV to face England this weekend, it was generally assumed the duo had passed fitness tests and that any lingering concerns over their availability had been cast aside.

Indeed, prior to Howley announcing his selection, BBC Wales reported that both players had been passed fit to play and were subsequently included in the Welsh starting XV.

However, BBC Wales have since reported that both Biggar and North will be given until Saturday to prove their fitness ahead of the showdown with England.

Furthermore, while Owen Williams has been released back to the Leicester Tigers, according to Wales Online, the fly-half remains on standby.

While North and Biggar may ultimately be declared fit to start against England on Saturday, the way in which Howley and the WRU have dealt with the situation has created some needless uncertainty ahead of the biggest game of the weekend.
