Watch: CJ Stander’s Inspirational Leadership Captured On Player Mic Against Ospreys

CJ Stander took on Sky Sports’ “Player Mic” duties during Munster’s Pro12 semi-final win against Ospreys on Saturday afternoon.

The Ireland and Lions back row turned in a fine performance at Thomond Park as Rassie Erasmus’s side booked their place in next week’s final against Scarlets in Dublin, and his leadership credentials were fully on show as his every utterance could be heard by the viewing public.

Even with captain Peter O’Mahony on the pitch (though Stander seemed to lose him at one funny point), the Munster number eight showed that he is just as capable of setting an example for his teammates and the 27-year-old is able to instantly command their respect.

Whether it is to bring Dave Kilcoyne to one side for praise (“you’re a machine. Lovely, thanks for fixing that”), to constantly try to fire up the forwards in front of him, or to congratulate Simon Zebo on his fabulous second half try, Stander was an inspired choice for the player mic due to how vocal and influential he is on the field of play.
