Super Rugby side, the Chiefs, have announced their co-captains for the coming season.
The gig has been given to first five eight Aaron Cruden and openside flanker Sam Cane.
Cruden, who is also one of the favourites to become the new All Blacks 10, has shared the captaincy with Liam Messam for the past two seasons.
But with Liam Messam now focusing on the Rio Olympics and making it into Gordon Tietjens’s Sevens side, a new player had to step forward to share the responsibility. That honour has been given to Sam Cane.
All Black Cane captained New Zealand for the World Cup match against Namibia and did a good job there.
Coach Dave Rennie praised both men’s experience and quality as players.
