The All Black Sevens emerged victorious in the Cape Town tournament on Sunday as they defeated Argentina to end their two-year drought.
New Zealand won their first title since 2016 with a comprehensive 38-14 victory against the Pumas in the second leg of the World Rugby Sevens series – though on the basis of some of the tacking below, Argentina will feel that they should have fared far better.
At 105kg, Joe Ravouvou is a big player. In that regard it would be difficult to stop him for most defences. Yet at one point he was able to casually waltz past the Argentina rearguard, with one player even resorting to grabbing his leg as the 26-year-old Auckland wing was able to casually bob and weave his way through for one of his two tries.
In all, the strong All Black Sevens side scored five tries as an error-prone Argentina were put to the sword. The result sees Clark Laidlaw’s men move two points ahead of South Africa in the overall World Series table after two rounds with eight more remaining.
