Both Armitage Brothers Linked With Premiership Return

The Armitage brothers could be on the verge of a return to England.

A number of weeks ago we reported that a number of Premiership clubs had been alerted to the availability of Delon Armitage, after it was rumoured that Toulon were not going to offer the fullback a new contract.

Those rumours were fuelled by the decision of Leigh Halfpenny to remain at the European champions for at least another season and the fact that Toulon have been heavily linked with Japanese World Cup star, Ayumu Goromaru.

While it was widely reported in France that Lyon were leading the chase for Armitage, Sky Sports have today reported that Bath are in talks with the England international.

Nevertheless, given the fact that the full back is 32 years of age, fans can be forgiven for not feeling too excited over the move.

However England fans will be delighted to hear that Steffon’s contract is due to expire in the summer of 2017.

Bath had previously been linked with the powerful openside, and as a result of the Top 14’s new quota policy, where clubs must include 14 players registered with the French Rugby Federation for five years before turning 21, an exodus of¬†Toulon’s foreign legion is expected.
