All Blacks Hotel Bugged Before Bledisloe Cup Match

The ARU might be disappointed the news got out, but the New Zealand Herald reported it anyway.

On the day of the match, New Zealand Rugby reported finding a sophisticated listening device in the hotel room where the All Blacks were holding their pre-match meeting to the New South Wales Police.

The device seems to be of the sort also used by intelligence and law enforcement and was hidden in a cut away in the foam of a seat.

The All Blacks have been staying in the same hotel since travelling to Sydney, and New Zealand Rugby is in no doubt it was aimed at them.

The ARU denies being involved, but New Zealand Rugby is not convinced. With the hotel and the NSW police investigating, the expectation is that World Rugby too launches an investigation, as this might be a serious black mark on the record of the international game.

The ARU also expects this will not affect the game tonight, though they did state they are disappointed this issue was brought into the public eye on match day.
