After what was a disappointing season, Bath parted ways with Mike Ford, and are now on the lookout for a replacement.
Bath finished 9th in the Premiership table, and failed to make it out of their pool in the European Challenge Cup. The club deemed enough was enough, and have cut Ford ahead of next season.
Today, The Telegraph are reporting that former South Africa head coach Heyneke Meyer has emerged as the top target.
Meyer led the Springboks to a famous victory over New Zealand in 2014, but that was as good as it got. A promising Rugby Championship did not translate into a successful World Cup, where they lost out to New Zealand in the semi-final.
However, Meyer left the Springboks in good stead, as a young spine with the likes of Damian De Allende, Jesse Kriel, Handre Pollard, and Eben Etzebeth means that they will be one of the favourites for 2019.
Meyer was linked with the vacant director of rugby role at Harlequins last month before they opted to promote from within with John Kingston moving into the top job.
