St. Mary’s overcame Belvedere in the AIL over the weekend to secure their first win of the season. Kevin Hegarty was our man with the camera, and here are a pick of the snaps.
Belvo went ahead with a 25th minute penalty through Josh Glynn, but Mary’s hit back with a try through Conor Toolan, which was duly converted by Gavin Dunne. 3-7 in favour of the away side at half time.
Mary’s extended their lead on the 51st minute when the referee awarded a penalty try as a result of a scrum issue and Gavin Dunne was on hand to convert once again as his side went ahead 3-14.
Belvo applied the pressure for the last ten minutes and touched down on 71 through Peter Robb. Josh Glynn converted to set up a nervy final ten minutes, but Mary’s held on to claim the victory on a scoreline of 10-14.
