Munster and Ireland backrower CJ Stander showed his inner anorak when taking on the PRO14 Quiz this week.
Faced with 14 questions about each PRO14 team, the South-African born star showed some impressive knowledge as well as making some big gaffes in the three-minute video which can be seen on Sky Sports.
After making a poor start, where he got his first two questions horribly wrong: firstly with the age of the Blues’ oldest player (and who is also the league’s oldest player) Taufa’ao Filise and then the name of Leinster’s old ground before they moved to the RDS, the all-action No8-cum-flanker regained his composure.
After putting a smile on Munster fans by correctly guessing the score of their historical triumph over the All Blacks in 1978, he then went on to correctly predict the number of tries Lions teammate Alun Wyn Jones, the Ospreys’ highest try-scorer amongst the forwards, had scored.
On a roll, the laid-back star after much thought, managed to name the Scarlets’ only Scottish player.
But after being stumped by a tricky Italian-Australian related question, things went more than a little pear-shaped when he failed to name the team which Ireland and Lions Teammate Rory Best had captained the Lions against down in New Zealand, despite playing in the game!
Nailing the final three questions which included some South African related trivia, the 15-times capped star, finished with a pretty impressive score.
Although it’s unlikely that Mastermind will come calling anytime soon!
