Ronan O’Gara is on media duties tonight as he provides input on RTÉ2’s coverage of Ireland’s first game of this November series as they take on South Africa at the Aviva Stadium.
Inevitably, O’Gara was questioned about the reports during the week which first appeared in the Irish Examiner which linked the Cork man with a move to the Super Rugby franchise, the Crusaders.
It was rather interesting that the news came about in the same week that the Crusaders’ head coach, Scott Robertson was in Ireland with the Barbarians as they took on Tonga in Thomond Park on Friday night.
Honesty is what you expect with O’Gara and he confirmed that communication has begun between the two clubs about a potential coaching move down under. However, it seems that negotiations are in the very early stages so it may be some time before we get confirmation of whether the Munster legend is staying or going.
O’Gara’s contract with the Parisian outfit runs until 2019.
