La Rochelle reaffirmed their status as one of the favourites to lift the Champions Cup in Bilbao in May with a 49-29 demolition job of Wasps at the Stade Marcel Deflandre.
The Top 14 leaders put six tries on their English opponents to open up a seven-point lead at the top of Pool 1. The result means the French side are likely to be the top seed among all other teams in the competition and they will look forward to a home quarter-final which is safe to say even with three fixtures remaining in the group stages.
A worry will be the concession of five tries to the visitors but it was a dominating performance nonetheless as they look forward to the return fixture against Wasps at the Ricoh Arena next week.
However, they could be without Rene Ranger for that fixture as footage has emerged of the New Zealander striking Irish prop, Marty Moore, in the face during the second half.
Citings from the weekend’s action won’t be known until tomorrow but based on the footage above it looks like Ranger may have a case to answer for striking out at Moore.
