Watch: Referee Angus Gardner Gets Flattened By Highlanders Player In Super Rugby Quarter Final

The Crusaders secured their passage into the Super Rugby semi-finals after a 17-0 victory over the Highlanders in what were almost biblical conditions in Christchurch.

The heavy rain meant that this wasn’t going to a high-scoring game full of open, running rugby but the home outfit were able to deal with the conditions much better as they kept the opposition scoreless.

Two tries in the first half from Codie Taylor and Joe Moody proved to be the difference. This brought the game to 17-0 at halftime and that’s how it stayed until the full-time whistle as conditions deteriorated further throughout the game.

The seven-time champions will face off against the Chiefs next Saturday and they will be confident of beating either side as they returned to winning ways after losing out to the British and Irish Lions and the Hurricanes over the past few weeks.

When the quarter-final was in its final stages, referee Angus Gardner took a bit of a tumble as he got in the way of Elliot Dixon who was trying to get back into the defensive line. To be fair to the referee, he got straight back up and continued on when it clearly sounds like he was in a bit of pain when he received the hit.
