The Leicester Tigers secured a narrow 16-15 win over Wasps at the weekend and in doing so, closed the gap on the top four positions with playoff qualification a real possibility come the end of the season.
An early Sione Kalamafoni try paved the way for a nail-biting win and the Tigers had to thank the boot of George Ford who chipped in with 11 crucial points.
The game could have been so much different when Dan Robson intercepted a pass for Wasps and the scrum-half seemed all but certain to score a try if it wasn’t for an intervention from Matthew Tait.
The Tigers replacement seemed in absolutely no position to stop Robson from scoring what would have been a killer-blow of a try but the 32-year-old must be commended for pulling off one of the most remarkable tackles to prevent a certain score.
Not only did Tait manage to catch up with Robson but he was able to pull him into touch before getting the ball down.
Check it out below.
"That is one of the best try-saving tackles I've ever seen!"
Mathew Tait with the absolute heroics when all looked lost.
