The Waratahs are now within just one point of the Melbourne Rebels at the top of the Australian conference thanks to a 29-50 victory over the Sunwolves in Tokyo.
Daryl Gibson’s side put on seven tries in a blistering display but they didn’t have it all their own way as the Sunwolves scored four tries of their own.
Scrum-half Jake Gordon grabbed a brace while the Sunwolves defence struggled to contain the power of Taqele Naiyaravoro who posted a remarkable 184 metres from just eight carries. It was Naiyaravoro who scored the last Waratahs try to fight off any unlikely Sunwolves comeback.
One of the highlights of the game was a beautiful offload from Wallaby Kurtley Beale as he passed the ball with one hand while being tackled by two players.

The Tahs take on the Queensland Reds at home next week – a win there could see them in pole position in the Australian conference.
