The Hurricanes have now lost two games in a row which has seen them fall five points behind the Crusaders at the top of the New Zealand Super Rugby conference.
The Wellington-based outfit fell to the Crusaders last weekend and today, they fell to another defeat to New Zealand opposition in the form of the Highlanders.
The Highlanders won out 30-14 at the Forsyth Barr Stadium thanks to tries from Aaron Smith, Tyrel Lomax, Waisake Naholo and Tevita Li.
They were able to manage this victory despite being down to 14-men at on stage during the game as Liam Squire was penalised for a swinging arm challenge to the head of Julian Savea.
However, Savea looks to have retaliated after the incident as it appears he swings a punch in Squire’s direction as he lay on the deck.
The TMO and referee attempted to look at footage of the incident but whenever the crucial point came, the camera panned away as it was following the play moving across the pitch.
