The Crusaders are now guaranteed to receive top seeding with one regular round remaining after a thumping 45-22 win over the Highlanders in Christchurch.
Scott Robertson’s side found it tough in the first half but a try on the stroke of half-time proved crucial as the Crusaders were able to see out the game in the second half thanks to further tries from Richie Mo’unga and George Bridge.
With the Crusaders just 18-17 up with half-time approaching, they scored a sublime team try which displayed some incredible offloading to go in at the break 25-17 to the good.
The move was finished off by All Black Scott Barrett but it all started with an excellent half-break by Richie Mo’unga who offloaded to Joe Moody. Moody then dished a one-handed offload to Matt Todd who passed just before the tackle to the onrushing Andrew Makalio.
Finally, Makalio offloaded to Barrett who then crashed over the line.
What a move!
