Wasps dominate the RPA Players’ Player of the Year shortlist

The shortlist for the RPA Players’ Player of the Year has been announced and there is some serious quality on display.

Unsurprisingly, four of the five players who make up the list are from arguably the two best teams in the Aviva Premiership – Wasps and Saracens.

Though saying that, it’s actually a bit of a surprise that no player from Exeter Chiefs made the list considering their excellent season and the likelihood of them achieving a home semi-final.

The award is voted for by all Premiership players with the winner to be announced at the RPA Players’ Awards 2017 which takes place on May 10 in London.

The five players include Owen Farrell (Saracens), Christian Wade (Wasps), Jimmy Gopperth (Wasps), Elliot Daly (Wasps) and Louis Picamoles (Northampton Saints).

The awards are set to take place before the semi-finals of the Premiership so these five players will only have one more opportunity to impress their colleagues when the final round of domestic action takes place this weekend.
