Waratahs Release A Special One-Off Retro Kit For Historic Clash

We’re a fan of this.

The NSW Waratahs are having one of the best starts to a season in recent years after securing their third win on the trot by thumping the Sunwolves 29-50 in Tokyo at the weekend.

They are just one point behind Australian conference leaders, the Melbourne Rebels and they will look forward to a clash with Brad Thorn’s Queensland Reds next weekend to keep their promising season going.

This clash won’t be played in the Waratahs’ usual home of the Allianz Stadium but will be played on the hallowed turf of the Sydney Cricket Ground. The match is being billed as a ‘State of Origin’ style clash, referencing the much popular annual series between Queensland and NSW in rugby league.

The Tahs will be playing this fixture in a new retro kit which will be worn specially for this historic fixture – it has been 35 years since these two teams last played at this venue.

Take a look of the jersey below:

The game takes place on Saturday morning (GMT).
