French rugby publication Midi Olympique has published its team of the 2019 Six Nations championship and it includes two Irish players despite Ireland suffering a disappointing campaign which has called into question their World Cup credentials later this year.
Across the 15 fixtures, there have been many standout performances and it’s always a challenge to produce a team such as this when there are so many factors to take into consideration.
Nevertheless, every man and his dog have come up with who they believe should be included in a team of the championship and you will have noticed many publications producing their XVs over the last 24 hours.
Midol were particularly critical of their own country’s performance throughout the championship with no players from Jacques Brunel’s squad included in the final team.
Midi Olympique’s Team Of The Six Nations
15. Liam Williams (Wales)
14. Josh Adams (Wales)
13. Henry Slade (England)
12. Hadleigh Parkes (Wales)
11. Jonny May (England)
10. Owen Farrell (England)
9. Ben Youngs (England)
1. Rob Evans (Wales)
2. Stuart McInally (Scotland)
3. Kyle Sinckler (England)
4. James Ryan (Ireland)
5. Alun Wyn Jones (Wales)
6. Josh Navidi (Wales)
7. Tom Curry (England)
8. CJ Stander (Ireland)
This is the #Midol‘s team of the tournament. Not the worst I’ve seen although even with limited options at No.8, I don’t see how CJ Stander gets in.
They also named their Player of the Championship: Alun Wyn Jones. Think that one is fair enough. pic.twitter.com/yKDDbZs8fU
