Manu Tuilagi Back To His Best In Thumping Win Over Scarlets

Manu Tuilagi

Manu Tuilagi rolled back the years with a superb physically dominating performance to help his Leicester Tigers side secure a vital 45-27 win over the Scarlets at Welford Road.

There was little separating the sides at halftime where the Tigers took a narrow 15-13 lead into the break but a powerful second-half performance spearheaded by the 27-year-old saw the home side score three second-half tries to make sure of the bonus-point win.

Tuilagi’s stats were very impressive throughout the 80 minutes:

  • 1 Try
  • 13 carries
  • 89 metres made
  • 2 line breaks
  • 6 defenders beaten
  • 0 Missed Tackles
  • Man of the match

Much of Tuilagi’s carries were into heavy traffic but on most occasions his power allowed him to get over the gain line to generate vital front-foot ball for Ben Youngs.

Eddie Jones was in attendance at Welford Road and after so many disappointments in recent weeks as key players withdraw from the England squad through injury, Tuilagi’s performance and the fact that he came through it unscathed will be a huge boost as England get ready for a tough November series.
