Scott Baldwin will likely always be remembered for what happened in South Africa when his Ospreys side travelled to Bloemfontein to take on the Cheetahs in the PRO 14 last month. Of course, as we all know, Baldwin got a little too close to a Lion enclosure and subsequently received a serious bite on his hand.

The injury meant that he missed the last month but he did make a return as a second hald substitute for the Ospreys in his side’s loss to European champions, Saracens, at Allianz Park in the Champions Cup on Saturday.

For Baldwin, losing the game is undoubtedly disappointing but he can be pleased that he made a successful comeback from an injury which could have been so much more serious.

You only get an idea of how serious the injury could have been when you take a look at the wound that Baldwin received from the agitated lion. The prop posted pictures to social media today which shows the remarkable recovery of the wound over the last month.

Be warned, it’s pretty graphic.

Baldwin can undoubtedly count himself lucky and he can now concentrate on producing his best for the Ospreys and Wales.
