The IRFU have confirmed that Rob Kearney suffered an injury to his calf on Monday.
The 33-year-old fullback was in line to start against Scotland for Ireland’s World Cup opener against Scotland in Yokohama on Sunday but this setback has put that in doubt.
Today, a spokesman for the IRFU confirmed that Kearney has tightness in his calf and that they hope that he will be back out running on Wednesday. He has not been ruled out of Sunday’s game with Gregor Townsend’s side just yet.
Elsewhere, Keith Earls ran yesterday as he looks to set up his recovery this week and Joey Carbery trained fully on Monday.
