Quade Cooper and Brad Thorn have had a fractious relationship, to say the least.
The former All Black, who is now head coach of the Queensland Reds, axed Cooper from the Reds’ 2018 Super Rugby season while the 30-year-old plied his trade playing club rugby in the NRC with Queensland.
It is expected that Cooper’s Super Rugby exile will come to an end once he announces that he will move south to Melbourne to take up a contract with the Rebels. It is understood that Cooper rebuffed an approach from the Rebels before because he wanted to work his way back into the Reds’ squad but with Thorn not budging on the issue, it looks like Cooper will now move on.
The out-half posted on his Instagram page a rather not so subtle dig at Thorn. The picture was taken from the 2011 World Cup semi-final between the Wallabies and the All Blacks at it shows him handing off Thorn while the All Black attempts to tackle him.
The caption of the post makes the intention all that more clear.
“Sometimes you are forced out of the place you love but thank god there’s more than one place that loves me.”
