Munster Announce Key Contract Extensions And Addition Of Academy South African Duo

As Munster prepare for their crucial Champions Cup fixture against Racing 92 in Paris on Sunday, the southern province has announced a number of contract extensions ahead of that Round 5 tie.

Billy Holland, Stephen Archer, and Kevin O’Byrne have all signed two-year deals to secure their future to Johann van Graan’s side for the foreseeable future.

All players have played a crucial part this season with Holland just missing one game so far in this campaign, last weekend’s victory over Connacht at Thomond Park. Archer, meanwhile, has played in every game this season for the southern province and O’Byrne has played in nine games, two of which he started over the busy Christmas period against the Leicester Tigers at Welford Road and at home to Leinster on St. Stephen’s Day.

The province also have news on some of their academy players. Prop Liam ‘Boomer’ O’Connor will advance to a two-year senior contract ahead of the new season. O’Connor played in 11 games for Munster so far but suffered a serious knee injury against the Ospreys. Fineen Wycherley and Calvin Nash have both signed one-year development contract ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

Finally, Munster have also confirmed the widely reported news that they have accepted two South African players into their Academy. Keynon Knox (18) and Matt Moore (18) are now training with the first-year Academy players after completing their school’s rugby with Michaelhouse and St Andrew’s College.
