With this morning’s confirmation of the expanded Guinness PRO14 tournament which now includes the Southern Kings and the Cheetahs, there were a large number of questions which supporters had from all clubs in the tournament.
One of the major issues was surrounding season ticket holders who up to now would have known how many home matches they would be attending per season. In the old 22 round format, each club would play 11 home games – simple.
However, with the addition of the two South African sides and the establishment of two conferences of seven teams, the number of home matches which each team will play per season will now vary.
Take Leinster, for example, this season they will play 10 home games, one less than they would have played in a regular PRO12 season. However, for season ticket holders, Leinster Rugby will offer supporters access to one game of their choice, for free. This will offset the extra cost associated with attending one less home game this season.
This is what Leinster Rugby had to say about the issue:
For the 2017/18 season Leinster Rugby are not offering a pro rata refund on Season Tickets already bought.
However every Season Ticket account will be offered a unique code which will entitle them to an extra unreserved ticket for one Guinness PRO14 home game of their choice, subject to availability, in the 2017/18 Guinness PRO14 regular season.
Leinster will return to having 11 home games in the 2018/2019 season.
