Johnny Sexton Produced A Lovely Gesture To Anthony Foley’s Family

Leinster and Ireland star, Johnny Sexton, gave the family of the late Anthony Foley a lovely gift earlier this year.

‘Axel’ tragically passed away a little over two years ago on the eve of Munster’s Champions Cup clash with Racing 92 in Paris.

Anthony’s father, Brendan, recently appeared on RTE’s Claire Byrne Live where he revealed that Sexton sent his grandson and Anthony’s son, Dan, a special birthday present earlier this year.

“There was another special moment – I am going to ruin a man’s reputation now – a parcel arrived in the post last March and just to coincide, it was Dan’s birthday.

“Nobody took any notice of the parcel on the day but later on that night the parcel was opened. Who’s jersey was it but Johnny Sexton’s.

“The one that he wore in Paris, the day he scored the winning point.”

The winning point in which Brendan Foley refers to is the famous drop-goal Sexton scored in the dying stages of Ireland’s opening Six Nations victory over France which paved the way for their historic Grand Slam triumph this year.
