Joe Marler Gets Straight Red For “Horrible” No Arms Hit On TJ Ioane

The final whistle has just blown at the AJ Bell Stadium and Sale Sharks have pulled off a narrow 30-29 victory against Harlequins.

Quins were putting in an excellent performance against a Sale side who have a very good record at home but unfortunately for John Kingston’s men, things took a turn for the worse when Joe Marler received a straight red card as the game approached the midway point of the second half.

Marler received a red card for an alleged no-arms challenge on Sale’s TJ Ioane. The referee had no choice but to send the England international off. Quins subsequently gave up their five-point advantage and lost the game by a solitary point.

It’s inevitable that Marler will be cited for the incident which will likely put his Six Nations participation in serious doubt. Even if he managed to be available, one would have to wonder what Eddie Jones would make of this.
