Ireland Name Side For Clash With Italy At U20 World Championship

Ireland U20 head coach Noel McNamara has named his starting XV for Wednesday’s final pool match at the World Rugby U20 Championship.

Ireland will take on Italy (KO 2.30 pm) in the knowledge that there is still a mathematical possibility that they can reach the semi-finals.

Ireland have been plagued by injuries throughout the campaign and McNamara has made a number of changes, some enforced, to the team which will take on the Italians.

Up front, Munster’s Josh Wycherley starts alongside John McKee and Michael Milne. Thomas Aherne and Ryan Baird, who had his red card rescinded, start together in the second-row. The back-row is made up of David McCann, Ciaran Booth and Azur Allison.

Vice-captain Craig Casey is named on the bench which gives Colm Reilly an opportunity to start at scrum-half. He will partner Ben Healy who starts at out-half.

Cormac Foley is named at inside centre and he partners Liam Turner who captains the side. The back-three is made up of Rob Russell, Angus Kernohan and Jake Flannery.
