Top Performers As Ireland Keep Six Nations Hopes Alive With Win Over France

Sean McMahon reporting from the Aviva Stadium

Ireland’s one-sided win over France means that Joe Schmidt’s side are still in contention to retain their championship as the Six Nations enters the final round next weekend.

Of course, that is out of Ireland’s hands even if they do achieve the difficult task of beating an in-form Wales who will be chasing a first Grand Slam since 2012 in front of their own supporters.

Nevertheless, what is most important from an Irish perspective in the greater context of a World Cup year, is that the performance against France was their best of this campaign thus far. Although that must come with an asterisk considering how dreadful Jacques Brunel’s side were.

Many of Ireland’s players played out of their skins in Sunday afternoon’s match and here we list who stood out the most among the two teams.
