Watch: George North Won’t Want To See A Replay Of This Defensive Blunder

25 minutes into the Northampton Saints’ clash with London Irish at Franklin’s Gardens and the home support’s worst fears were being realised.

They had just conceded another try to the league’s bottom side and it looked like London Irish were on course to record only their second win of the season.

Thankfully, a George North inspired comeback in the second half got the Saints a much-needed win which was all that more important considering Worcester Warriors recorded a home victory over Gloucester at Sixways.

Although Warren Gatland would have been happy to see North cross the whitewash on Saturday, he wouldn’t have been happy to see the British and Irish Lion fail to deal with a grubber kick which led to Alex Lewington’s second try of the game.

The Saracens bound winger took advantage of hesitation from North to reach the ball before the Welshman and score as a result.

It was a perfectly executed grubber kick from Greig Tonks and although the bounce was awkward, in that situation North really needed to relieve the pressure.

Although the Saints went on to secure a victory in the second half, a similar mistake may be the difference when Wales take to the field to take on Ireland at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday.
