There was some bad news for Eddie Jones at the weekend as he learned that George Kruis will miss the rest of the season.
Kruis is set to undergo ankle surgery which will rule him out of England’s three-Test tour of South Africa in June.
Saracens boss Mark McCall confirmed the news after he saw his side romp to victory over London Irish on a final scoreline of 51-14.
With just one game left in the regular Premiership season, Saracens will definitely finish in second place but their opponents in the semi-final will depend on the outcome of next weekend’s match between Newcastle Falcons and Wasps.
To add further worry for Jones, Elliot Daly went off injured during Wasps’ victory over the Northampton Saints but Dai Young remains unsure about the severity of the injury.
“It’s too early to tell,” said the club’s director of rugby Dai Young to BBC Sport. “It was more of a collision injury and not an overstretch injury.
“They always look worse straight after the game but time will tell. I’ve had egg on my face a number of times when I’ve said I don’t think they’re serious but they end up serious.
“And then some guys have been stretchered off but they’ve been training on Monday. We’ll wait and see over the next 24 hours.”
