Eddie Jones is building for the future. On top of bringing England to new heights over the past 18 months, the Australian firmly has the 2019 World Cup in Japan firmly in his sights as he looks to increase the strength in depth of the squad available to him.
The former Japan coach has already announced his 31-man squad for the two-Test tour of Argentina next month but his side will also face off against the Barbarians next Sunday in Twickenham. It promises to be a cracking weekend of rugby in London with the Aviva Premiership final taking place in the same venue a day before.
Playing against the Barbarians is always a special occasion but Jones will be keen to see how some of the young players in his squad adapt to playing some of the best players in the world.
There have been some grievances in some quarters regarding Jones’ squad selection, with many, including Pundit Arena columnist and former player, Andy Goode, in disbelief over Christian Wade’s omission.

Wade, of course, wouldn’t be involved this weekend anyhow, as he seeks to help his Wasps side win the Premiership title against the Exeter Chiefs.
Nevertheless, Jones has named his squad for the BaaBaas clash and there could be plenty of new faces strutting their stuff on the Twickenham turf.

It will be exciting to see if the Curry twins make their senior debuts but it’s an exciting squad nonetheless for what should be an open, exciting game of rugby.
