It’s now three successive wins for Steve Diamond and the Sale Sharks after they overcame Saracens 24-18 at the AJ Bell Stadium on Friday night.
The win sees the Sharks up to fourth in the table and they will be determined to secure a coveted playoff spot although there is still a long way to go in the season.
Sale responded brilliantly to an early setback when Billy Vunipola, on his comeback from injury, crashed over in the early stages for the first try of the match.
Owen Farrell added a penalty give the champions a 10-0 lead but a Sam James try and then a superb effort from Denny Solomona soon after got Sale into the lead which they didn’t relinquish for the rest of the match.
It was a superb team try and it began when scrum-half Faf de Klerk changed the point of attack by playing a reverse pass to James.
With the Saracens defence flat-footed, James played an inside pass to an onrushing Solomona who produced a superb step to get him away from Liam Williams.
