Dane Coles Is Back But Julian Savea Is Dropped For Hurricanes Clash With Lions

Both the Hurricanes and the Lions have named their match day squads for their upcoming Super Rugby semi-final clash in Johannesburg. It is the second semi-final to take place on Saturday as the Crusaders and the Chiefs face off against each other in Christchurch, team news of which you can find here

Defending champions the Hurricanes will have a tough task to overcome an incredibly powerful Lions outfit who were head and shoulders above the rest of their South African counterparts throughout the season.

Both sides have named their teams for the match at Ellis Park and there are some major talking points associated with the Canes selection. Dane Coles, who came off the bench last week in the quarter-final win over the Brumbies will make his first start since March 18. Julian Savea, who started last week’s victory in Canberra is dropped to the bench. Vince Aso comes in at centre, while Jordie Barrett shifts to full-back and Nehe Milner-Skudder goes to the right wing.

Meanwhile, the Lions have kept the same 23 which defeated the Sharks last week in that closely fought contest. Springbok centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg remains on the bench as Johan Ackermann continues to favour Harold Vorster.
