Controversy As The Beast Sees Yellow For Dangerous Tip-Tackle

At halftime in Tokyo, South Africa lead Japan 5-3 in what has been an incredible opening half of rugby.

South Africa got off to a brilliant start when a strong scrum allowed Makazole Mapimpi to collect the ball on the wing as he easily got by Yu Tamura to score a try in the corner.

Initially, it looked like the Springboks’ power game would be too much to handle but Japan were offered some respite when Tendai ‘The Beast’ Mtawarira committed a tip-tackle on a Japanese player.

Referee Wayne Barnes immediately handed out a yellow card without consulting his TMO but there is a strong argument that it should have been red due to the reckless nature of the incident.

Japan have since dominated possession for the remainder of the first half but have yet to cross the whitewash for their opening try.
