Connacht Rugby are in their final week of preparations before they face off against familiar foes, the Glasgow Warriors, at the Sportsground in Galway on Saturday.
It’s difficult to gauge how the western province will fare this season, last season was a disaster as Pat Lam’s departure and an unprecedented injury crisis severely affected the squad as they succumbed to an eight place position, 14 points adrift of sixth place.
Now, however, there is a new coaching ticket in place as former Chiefs coach, Kieran Keane, takes the reigns in the province as they look to get back to the performances which won them the PRO12 title in 2016.
Connacht have made a number of signings in the offseason and they have further bolstered their ranks with the addition of Peter Coulson.
Coulson is a former Ireland U20 international and he has been playing in the Top14 with Grenoble for the past three seasons.

Coulson has made 29 appearances for the French club after representing Leinster at underage level. Head coach, Keane, had this to say about the 23-year-old’s arrival.
“Denis is a quality player and I am delighted that he has signed for us ahead of the new season. We have an exciting season ahead with the new PRO14 Championship and the arrival of Denis will add to the competition for places in our front row”.
Coulson added: “I am hugely excited to be returning to play in Ireland with Connacht. There is a fantastic atmosphere in the Sportsground and I can’t wait to play my first game there. With the new season kicking off on the 2nd of September I will be hoping to integrate into the squad as quickly as possible”.
Connacht face off against the Warriors this weekend before hosting the Southern Kings a week later.
