Munster currently lie in second place in Conference A of the Guinness PRO14 and they endured mixed results while their international contingent were away with Ireland for the duration of the Six Nations.
Munster recorded two wins against Zebre and the Glasgow Warriors while suffering away defeats to the Cardiff Blues and most recently Edinburgh at the weekend.
They take on Scarlets this Saturday before focus shifts to that Champions Cup quarter-final against Toulon a week later in Thomond Park.
However, preparations for that huge match look to be hampered due to some worrying injury news coming out of the southern province.
Keith Earls will undergo a scan on his knee for the injury he picked up at the end of Ireland’s win against England at Twickenham which puts his participation over the next few weeks in serious doubt.
Both Tyler Bleyendaal and Duncan Williams have been ruled out for the rest of the season. Bleyendaal is to undergo surgery on a long-standing neck issue while Williams is out with a facial injury he picked up in training.
Simon Zebo and Alex Wootton will both be assessed today for respective hamstring and hip flexor injuries. Jean Kleyn will follow return-to-play protocols after picking up a concussion.
In better news, Niall Scannell is set to return to full training after recovering from a hip injury.
