Bundee Aki has issued an apology to anyone he may have offended due to ‘liking’ Israel Folau’s controversial social media post whereby he outlined that hell awaits gay people.
Folau’s views have led to a code of conduct hearing with Rugby Australia taking place on May 4 and the outcome could see the 30-year-old’s contract with the governing body revoked.
Billy Vunipola was one of the players who liked Folau’s original post and his continued support has led to an official warning being issued to him by the RFU and his club Saracens.
Aki says he originally ‘liked’ Folau’s post before realising what it contained and he apologises for any offence that it may have caused.
