Blow For England As Elliot Daly Is Withdrawn From The England Squad

England have been dealt with the blow that Wasps’ Elliot Daly has withdrawn from the squad due to the knee injury he picked up against the Northampton Saints at the weekend.

Daly picked up a knock to his right knee in the first half and he failed to return for the second 40. It had been confirmed by the RFU yesterday that Daly would not travel with the England squad to a training camp in Portugal this week but would undergo a scan instead to determine the extent of the damage.

That scan seems to have confirmed that damage is significant enough to withdraw him from the England squad.

The statement released by the RFU this evening doesn’t confirm the extent of his injury or whether he would be fit for England’s Autumn internationals but it does confirm that Bath’s Semesa Rokoduguni has been called up his absence.

Here is the statement from the RFU below:

The squad fly to Faro in Portugal this afternoon and the players who played yesterday will also travel with the remainder of the squad.
