The Northampton Saints fell to another home defeat today as they were on the wrong end of a 25-34 scoreline against the Sale Sharks.
A dismal first half showing from the Saints meant that they were losing 6-31 after the 40 minutes. You would expect that there were on the receiving end of a dressing down at halftime and they did improve in the second half to score 19 points which included three tries.
Ultimately though, it’s another loss for the Franklin’s Gardens outfit and it’s certainly a case of waiting for the season to be over at this stage.
In the aftermath of the loss, Saints’ Technical Coaching Consultant, Alan Gaffney, seemed to question George North’s commitment to the club in his post-match interview given to BBC Radio Northampton.
North wasn’t named in the matchday 23 and Gaffney seems to suggest that the player didn’t want to play this weekend.
When Gaffney was asked where North was today, the Australian coach responded:
”You’d better ask George that. We picked a side who actually wanted to be out on the pitch and the best side for the game.”

Pundit Arena understands that North was available to play for the Saints this weekend. The 25-year-old has been battling back to full fitness so will no doubt have an eye on Wales’ clash with Italy next week.
