Ronan O’Gara is the new head coach of La Rochelle
The news was confirmed by the French club on Wednesday morning. O’Gara has been part of the coaching staff with Crusaders since January 2018. But will leave the Super Rugby side when their season ends next month to take up his first head coach role.
The former Munster and Ireland fly-half will replace Xavier Garbajosa and will take up his position at the end of July.
O’Gara will return to French rugby after previously being a coach with Racing 92 between 2013 and 2017. He left that position to take up a coaching role with Crusaders in New Zealand.
According to the Irish Examiner, O’Gara will work alongside director of rugby Jono Gibbes. La Rochelle’s Top 14 campaign ended with defeat in the semi-finals to Toulouse last weekend.
