We Remember: The Time Harinordoquy’s Father Stormed The Pitch & Tried To Unleash The Fury

We’ve all heard the stories of angry, overactive parents getting too involved in underage games and, on rare occasions, even storming the pitch. However, we never thought we’d see it in the Top 14.

Of course all of that changed back in 2011 when the father of then-Biarritz juggernaut, Imanol Harinordoquy, stormed the pitch and unleashed his fists of fury on the Bayonne players.

The Basque derby is often a fiery affair, and as expected tempers flared early on with a fistfight developing following an early try.

Cue the main event and Harinordoquy Sr.’s entrance leading to one of the most bizarre moments in French professional rugby.

We can only imagine this is how he envisioned storming the field of play…

What an entrance.
What an entrance.

Of course, things didn’t go as well as planed and despite Harinordoquy’s father getting straight into the action, he was swiftly given his come-uppance.

If you look closely, one of the Bayonne players catches ‘Big Poppa H’ with a suplex. Mad props.
