New Zealand Super Rugby Sides Whitewash Australian Teams

After 25 games between New Zealand’s five teams and Australia’s five sides, the latter’s outfits failed to register a single win over their Antipodean counterparts.

It’s a statistic that will not be warmly welcomed by Wallabies coach Michael Chieka as he tries to rebuild the national team’s reputation having won only six of their fifteen fixtures in 2016.

Despite having world class players spread out throughout their five teams, the Reds, Rebels, Waratahs, Brumbies and Force all failed to register a single win over the Hurricanes, Chiefs, Crusaders, Blues and Highlanders in the regular 2017 season.

Japanese side the Sunwolves showed the Australian teams how it is done by beating the Blues for the first time in Tokyo on Friday, earning a surprise 48-21 victory over a team featuring a number of star name All Blacks.

The Reds suffered a 40-17 hammering to the Highlanders on the same day, with Melbourne’s Rebels going down 32-29 at home to Argentina’s Jaguares. The Chiefs downed the Brumbies 28-10 to see the Australians totally wiped out by New Zealand’s finest.

Despite this, the Brumbies have made the competition’s finals for this year.
