Cipriani’s shoulder appeared to make contact with the head of the on-rushing Rory Scannell and after some deliberation with the TMO the referee made the decision to send the England international off.
Despite the dangerous collision, Cipriani did show some good sportsmanship in apologising to Scannell as he exited the field but there’s no doubt that this will be a huge blow as his side look for victory over Munster.
Munster currently lead by 15-3 at half-time in Thomond Park and you can follow live updates from the second half of the game on Pundit Arena’s Twitter account.
