Racing 92 rounded off the opening round of the Heineken Champions Cup in style with a 30-10 victory over Saracens in Paris.

It was all one-way traffic from the get-go as the French outfit dominated a largely second-string Saracens from start to finish.

Virimi Vakatawa got Racing off the mark with their first try after nine minutes before Maxime Machenaud added to his earlier penalty to make it 10-0 after 10 minutes.

Machenaud added a further three points before Teddy Thomas sent the Parisians into dreamland after 27 minutes with a second try.

The try was shrouded in controversy over whether the French winger had indeed stepped into touch before finishing.

Draw your own conclusions.

Into the second half and Ben Spencer pulled a try back for Saracens to leave eight between them before Finn Russell conjured up a series of magical moments creating and scoring a wonderful team try that put an end to the Saracens challenge.

Wenceslas Lauret crashed over for the bonus-point try before the end to leave the final score at 30-10 to Racing 92.

The Scotland star, who alluded to their disappointing World Cup in his post-match interview, was in jovial form after a huge opening round victory for the club desperately seeking a first-ever European Champions Cup.
